Preserving narratives, connecting generations, and revealing the layers of Australian heritage
Core-petal was founded in 2008 by a collective of historians and archaeologists who recognised that Australia's heritage sites deserved more than cursory tourism. They envisioned experiences that would transform passive observation into active understanding.
What began as weekend walks through Sydney's historical quarters has evolved into a comprehensive heritage tourism operation spanning every Australian state and territory. Our growth reflects an increasing appetite among travellers for substance over spectacle.
Today, we maintain partnerships with over forty heritage organisations, Indigenous communities, and academic institutions. These relationships ensure our tours remain accurate, respectful, and continually enriched by new research.
Every decision we make flows from these foundational commitments.
We draw exclusively from verified sources. Our narratives are reviewed by academic historians before any tour launch. Speculation is clearly labelled as such, and myth is separated from documented fact.
Indigenous heritage is presented only through authorised partnerships with Traditional Owners. We follow strict protocols regarding sacred sites, and a portion of all Indigenous tour revenue returns directly to those communities.
Heritage sites are finite and fragile. Our group sizes are deliberately small, our pathways carefully managed, and our environmental footprint minimised through carbon offset programmes.

Every Core-petal tour undergoes a rigorous development process before reaching our guests:
Research Phase: Our historians spend months consulting archives, interviewing descendants of historical figures, and reviewing academic literature. No detail is assumed—every claim requires documentation.
Site Assessment: We visit locations multiple times, evaluating accessibility, preservation status, and narrative potential. Sites that cannot be visited responsibly are excluded regardless of historical significance.
Script Development: Our guides work from detailed scripts that balance information density with narrative engagement. These scripts are tested with focus groups before deployment.
Continuous Refinement: Guest feedback and new historical discoveries prompt regular updates. A tour from 2015 may look quite different today.
